Time to
Winterize your ride! Ethanol levels in gas now makes it more important
than ever to add a fuel stabilizer to your tank during periods of storage
or low usage. Now is a good time to change your oil to get rid of
moisture from condensation that can start to corrode internal parts. Amsoil has
anti-corrosive additives to further protect these parts. When changing your
engine oil, don't forget about the transmission and primary case. These should
be changed regularly as well as the engine, and it only takes a few extra
minutes and a couple more quarts of oil to protect these critical areas. Don't
forget to put your battery on a Battery Tender or similar device. These
are smart devices that maintain the correct charge of your battery during
storage. They can significantly increase the service life of your battery for a
lot less than the cost of a new battery. Wash your bike. Those bug guts
all over your bike don't just look bad, they are corrosive to your paint and
chrome. Check and adjust the air pressure in your tires. Tires typically
lose 1 or 2 psi per month. If you put it away with low pressure to begin with,
they may be flat or almost flat in the spring. This can damage the tire, and/or
cause a dangerous situation when you take that first ride next spring. Put
some steel wool or a brillo pad loosely in the end of your exhaust pipes.
This will keep mice & other vermin from building a nest or storing food in
them. A plugged exhaust will make the bike run lousy in the spring, and those
corn kernels make a mess when they blast out of the pipes like a shotgun on your
first start-up. (Had it happen!) DON'T start your bike for a few minutes
every so often during storage. This does more damage than good. Even if you
let it run for 15-20 minutes, (which will tend to foul the spark plugs) - it
doesn't get hot enough to burn off any condensation in the engine. You will
actually ADD condensation inside the engine through this warm up and cool
down process - adding moisture that will start to corrode internal engine
components.
"Heat Demons"
grip warmers are a HOT
product! Keep your hands warm on those cold days and still use any grips you
like with "Heat Demons"
grip warmers! Installation takes about 1-1/2 hours. Drill one hole in your
handlebars, run the wires through the bars, install the switch, connect the
power and ground wires, and you're ready to ride with warm hands! All
necessary connectors are included. Install them yourself, or call NCC
to do it for you.
When it gets
cold, set the switch to the highest of the 4 settings for 10-15 minutes to warm
your grips and your hands, then turn it down to maintain your comfort level. The
switch is conveniently located within easy reach, next to your Horn and High
Beam controls, so you don't remove your hands from the bars, or search for the
switch.
NCC now offers Dyna
Beads as a dynamic tire balancing solution. Dyna
Beads are high-density ceramic beads that continuously balance
your tires as you ride. The material distributes itself in weight and position
depending on the balance requirements of the individual tire. The result is a
smooth, vibration-free ride, derived from the balancing media constantly
repositioning itself as the tire wears. For more information on how they
work, CLICK HERE
Benefits of Dyna
Beads...
Glass smooth ride, every time, all the time
Dramatically longer tire life
No rebalancing
No ugly spoke or rim weights
Eliminates tire cupping
Have
NCC install them in your next set of tires for a small additional charge. If you
don't need new tires yet, buy the kit and easily install them yourself!
